Issei to Gosei Oral Histories
An oral history project conducted by Carlene Tanigoshi Tinker under the sponsorship of the Special Collections Research Center, the Issei to Gosei Interview Project aimed to capture the stories of five generations of Japanese Americans who have grown up or lived in the San Joaquin Valley. Many of them were in incarceration camps, but the younger ones were not. These people however, do have vivid stories to tell as well; some may remember the experiences of their great grandparents, grandparents and parents which further embellish their own. Tinker interviewed in total 13 Japanese Americans who lived in the San Joaquin Valley during all or part of their lives. These interviews are made available here to preserve these important Japanese American experiences for future generations.
