Father Lucien Bouchard in a remote Hmong village. Father Lucien Bouchard, an Oblate Order Catholic Missionary, dedicated seventeen years of his life to Laos. Proficient in both Hmong and Lao languages, he was a devout individual whose unwavering faith guided his mission. Although his primary objective was to assist those in distress, his secondary mission was to bring Christianity to the hill tribes. Albert Four (USAID) (back middle in white tee shirt) and his assistants in Ban Xon. Front, second from left, is Bounmee. Bounmee was responsible for saving U.S. Navy pilot LT Charles F. Klusmann who was shot down in 1964 over the Plain of Jars. Klusmann was captured and spent 86 days in captivity until he escaped the prisoner camp on August 30, 1964 and rescued two days later.
